The Brothers
talk about how they got to be where they are and their
individual thoughts on what makes the group unique. In a candid
discussion, Jim, Gary Jr., Gery and Ed talk about some of their
experiences with the group and how they came to be here.
Did you
know? The Brothers & Co. was originally called 'The Brothers' and
consisted of Gary Jr., Gery and their two uncles, brothers the late Gary Sutton
and William Sutton. Jess Young, a close friend of the Deer family joined the
group shortly after. Sadly, Jess passed away early in 2008 after a long illness.
At his family's request, Jess wore his "Brothers" uniform to eternity.
Recorded
Saturday, December 13, 2008 Jim and Gery do
much more than just sing with the group. They also provide some of the fun
variety entertainment. In this podcast, they talk about how they fit their variety act
"Whips & Wands" into The Brothers & Co. performances giving their audiences
a peak at old-time entertainment now nearly gone from the stage.
Did you
know? Jim Karns is an award-winning member of the International
Brotherhood of Magicians and Gery L. Deer is the executive educational
consultant and founder of the Society of American Whip Artistry. Recorded
Saturday, November 29, 2008 (Running time 15 Min. 6 Sec.)
The newest
member of The Brothers & Co., bass singer and magician, Jim Karns, talks about his
experience with the group and how it has changed over the last several years! Hear, in his
own words, how Jim got into performing and music in this fun and very candid chat with The
Brothers & Co.'s 'leader' Gery L. Deer
Did you
know? The first public performance of "The Brothers" was held in
July of 1995 at the New Jasper Township Fire Station. Ironically, a few hours
before the rehearsal for the show one day earlier, Gery was involved in a
head-on crash between the farm grain truck he was driving and a commercial
cement truck. For A CD of your favorite pod cast, email us! gery@thebrothersandcompany.com
